Wizards basketball manager opening. Timberwolves' Tim Connelly.

Their basketball coach's name was in the news for many other reasons on Tuesday.

After missing the playoffs in each of the previous two seasons, the team made the postseason this year.

 Tommy Sheppard was fired as president and general manager by the Wizards.

Wizards owner Ted Leonsis released a statement in which he said:

 "A search for a new executive from outside the organization will commence immediately."

What does Tim Connelly, president of basketball operations for the Minnesota Timberwolves, have to do with any of this? Well

 As soon as it was announced that the position was available on Tuesday, his name was linked to it.
