McDavid on his lack of playoff scoring: "I Couldn't Care Less About Points"
Despite having 153 points at the end of the 2022–23 NHL regular season, Connor McDavid has only tallied one assist in two games of the postseason against the Los Angeles Kings.
Media and fans in Edmonton have already taken notice of his lack of scoring, with some speculating that the Oilers captain may be sick or ill and
others wondering where his offensive spark has vanished. With five points in just two games, Leon Draisaitl has proven to be the most dangerous player for both sides.
So what's the issue if Draisaitl and McDavid are producing points but McDavid isn't? There is no response at this time.
There is no issue because McDavid has been effectively slowed down by the Kings' tight checking. It may be reasonable to wonder what is going on if things continue.
McDavid stated that he would like to contribute more on the offensive end, but that he just cares about winning, and the series is now knotted 1-1. He continued,
"Everyone playing for the Oilers and rooting for this time hopes that's true. I think it's just a matter of time."
The truth is that the Oilers thrive when McDavid is on the scoresheet. These games are much closer than they should be when he isn't playing.
