Max Holloway stays in UFC title picture, outpoints Arnold Allen

Max Holloway is, and has been for the better part of a decade,

consistently regarded as one of the most formidable competitors in the world at the featherweight division.

In the main event of UFC Kansas City on Saturday, the former UFC featherweight champion earned a victory via unanimous decision over Arnold Allen.

The judges' scores were 49-46, 49-46, and 48-47. Holloway turned in a solid effort in a battle that was a pivotal moment in his professional MMA career.

If he had been defeated, it would have been the first time in nearly eight years that he had been knocked from his perch as a leading candidate.

Since 2013, Max Holloway has not been defeated in a bout that was not for a title.

"That man hits like a truck," Holloway said of Allen in the postfight interview.

"He knocked me out in the final round and gave me a black eye. Dammit, Arnold. Because of you, the success of my modeling career is in peril.
