Gervonta Davis' trainers ready to win in Las Vegas

Calvin Ford and Kenny Ellis, Gervonta Davis' veteran trainers, have been discussing a fight of this kind for years. The pair were interviewed by WJZ's Rick Ritter in an exclusive, neighbourhood interview.

From Las Vegas, where Davis will face Ryan Garcia on Showtime Pay-per-view Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena, they joined the WJZ anchor on the phone.

Perhaps only his two coaches have a deeper understanding of the boxing champion. With 28 victories, 26 of them by knockout, he could be referred to as the "current Mike Tyson" because of the power he delivers.

Even Gervonta was raised by the pair. Since Davis was a tiny child, they have stood by his side.

Even at Ford's gym at the Upton Boxing Centre in West Baltimore, where Tank trained as a child, Davis would occasionally spend the night there. It was not simple to go up the ranks over time and reach the top.

Ford and Ellis care deeply for the city's youth. Children from theneighborhoodd gather to the Upton Boxing Centre on Pennsylvania Avenue in West Baltimore to welcome them when they return from their pay-per-view battles.

It's simple to see why Ford and Ellis are two of the sport's most divisive coaches. The possibilities are endless for Team GTD, especially with the addition of probably the biggest star in modern boxing.
